Watch manufacturers are using the latest celebrities to endorse their products, in order to drive demand for the product. These celebrities, whether they are film, movie or sports stars, are paid a significant sum to be sponsored by a watch brand. The watch manufacturer then hopes to drive sales in a product that is perceived as desirable, as the latest ‘cool’ celebrity has been hired to promote the stylish and fashionable watches. On the other hand, some watch brands don’t rely on official celebrity sponsorships. It can be an expensive PR exercise to hire a famous face to be the official sponsor of a watch brand. Some celebrities are spotted wearing a particular brand of watch, which may be spotted in the newspapers and magazines, which can be great free promotion for the manufacturer.
