The ability to tell the time is vital in today’s modern society. Everyday life is functioned around the clock, so the need to tell the time is equally as important. If you have an interest in sport, then the variety of watches that you can buy is huge. When choosing a watch, you would need to decide how it would be powered. You have the option of battery powered, wind-up, kinetic, electronic movements and mechanical movements. The emerging technologies have also created innovative opportunities for watch ‘movements’. For example the watch manufacturer Citizen has created a time movement called the ‘Eco-Drive’, which are powered by light. Now that is innovation! Who knows what the future holds for the humble watch, but it certainly is an excitable and fruitful future, with so much choice for the consumer. There is plenty of time to get involved in the watch market!
